Review - Kitty Hawk And The Curse of the Yukon Gold

Hey guys! I haven't done a post in a little while, and I thought it would be nice to (finally) post my review!!
Let me just start out that this is my first publisher-requested review, and I'm  a little nervous!!

Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold

Four out of five possible planes.
Release Date: November 30th, 2012
Summary: Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold is the thrilling first installment in a new series of adventure mystery stories that are one part travel, one part history and five parts adventure. This first book of the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency Series introduces Kitty Hawk, an intrepid teenage pilot with her own De Havilland Beaver seaplane and a nose for mystery and intrigue. A cross between Amelia Earhart, Nancy Drew and Pippi Longstocking, Kitty is a quirky young heroine with boundless curiosity and a knack for getting herself into all kinds of precarious situations.
Note: This book was provided by Kelsey at Book Publicity Services in exchange for an honest review.

After leaving her home in the western Canadian fishing village of Tofino to spend the summer in Alaska studying humpback whales Kitty finds herself caught up in an unforgettable adventure involving stolen gold, devious criminals, ghostly shipwrecks, and bone-chilling curses. Kitty's adventure begins with the lingering mystery of a sunken ship called the Clara Nevada and as the plot continues to unfold this spirited story will have armchair explorers and amateur detectives alike anxiously following every twist and turn as they are swept along through the history of the Klondike Gold Rush to a suspenseful final climatic chase across the rugged terrain of Canada's Yukon, the harsh land made famous in the stories and poems of such writers as Jack London, Robert Service and Pierre Berton. It is a riveting tale that brings to glorious life the landscape and history of Alaska's inside passage and Canada's Yukon, as Kitty is caught up in an epic mystery set against the backdrop of the scenery of the Klondike Gold Rush.

Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold is a perfect book to fire the imagination of readers of all ages. Filled with fascinating and highly Google-able locations and history this book will inspire anyone to learn and experience more for themselves as Kitty prepares for her next adventure - flying around the world!

What I liked: I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Kitty progress as a person. She is adventurous but just like her mom she loves nature and all it's beauty. I also liked how Kitty knew what she wanted, she wasn't distracted by a certain boy (who wasn't really that swoon-worthy in my opinion) who crossed her path. I enjoy a protagonist who knows what they want.* I also liked how Kitty was an introvert. You will find her throughout the book having inward conversations because she is scared that what she has to say is irrelevant.
At the same time though, Kitty was real. She had an extremely vulnerable personality, which was interesting to see at the same time as watching her knowing what she wanted. Kitty was a lovable personality to anyone who reads.

What I didn't Like: Okay, so, seeing Kitty being held hostage was NOT fun. I was screaming at her to get outta there quick. Four men, brothers, took her "in" when she was adventuring and she saw them talking about the gold. She actually befriended these guys, and while that was interesting to see, I would have thought it was more smart for her NOT to get involved in the whole gold-stealing thing, with those four men.
Woah, P-L-O-T TWIST!Skip next line if you hate spoilers. Highlight to see it.

Eddie is short for Edward as in Kitty's crush!
I was shipping Edward and Kitty and I was disapointed that they went out on one date and nothing came from that. And if this is a series and the adventure of Alaska has ended, then where is it gonna go?

Overall Statement: Read this book! It will keep you guessing and it is mostly clean except for a few words. I'd say nobody under the under 10 crowd should steer clear.

So that's it for this review, thanks for reading, and thank you Kelsey @Book Publicity Services for this oppurtunity!

Back and on Fire!

Hey! It's Jane here, and I forgot to tell you really great news: I am trying to get a book published with my bff, Holly! She's super nice. Funny little story: we wrote the stories(they were a series that never got a part two) in November of 2010. I went over a couple of days ago, and we asked her Dad if we could look in the file cabinet for the stories-just to reminisce. We found 2 of them, and we loved the first one so much  we wanted to re-write it! So we got up the nerve to do it. I typed up the whole thing and Holly was the editor, helped me point out incorrect grammar we used. ;) We both wrote the content, though. And we both illustrated--I drew and she coloured in the drawings for me. When we were done we showed both our parents and they advised us to get it published! So we are sending copies of it out to publishers and teachers of our old schools soon. Really cool, huh!! It's a children's book, and I don't want to post it on here because people might take >:o But I just wanted to say that because it's really cool.

Secondly, I wanted to mention how I am going to be posting a review tomorrow sometime around 6:00pm, so be on the lookout for that.

Second-to LASTLY I would like to say how I am going to be doing a writing update: my style, Esther's challenge, etc.

Lastly, I'm putting this in bold because it is super important!!!

I'm gonna be doing an Ask Jane!! I haven't hosted one in quite a long time, so please submit questions about anything and everything!! If you are okay with it, I'm gonna be doing a Youtube video where I broadcast me answering the questions, fun.

Thanks so much for reading, I love you and books, haha! :D  Tell me what you think of my channel, and always be sure to add me on Google +, and share this on there too! K bye!! Talk to you later!!
