Long time no see.

Hey everyone, I know it's been months but I've been really busy with a lot of stuff at my school(acting, chorus, broadway jr, state tests coming up).. I know I owe reviews to you guys but I'm thinking of making a youtube channel to do the reviews for books for anyone who still reads or checks up on this blog. If you do read this, share it with one friend!
I've been thinking a lot and I realize that I started this out wanting to make it only for books, but I would want to expand it into an advice/lifestyle page?  I'm probably still going to  post about books but I might be doing those reviews in videos.
Please tell me what you think!! <3

Something I realized..not book related

Hi whoever is reading this! :) Welcome to my blog post!

What I realized after starting this blog is that even though I may not post every day and I care about how I look, education is very important to me. This realization came about a couple of  months ago when I found myself saying "I wish I didn't have to go to school",or "i wish i didn't have to learn this". That's when I started researching girls my age in other countries' education... They don't have one! I was so thankful at Thanksgiving for an education and ever since then I've been taking my grades and schoolwork. Of course I don't like waking up and GOING to school, but I appreciate the learning I do get to do there and I take myself very seriously.
Friendly reminder to the girls reading this: You are way more than how you look. Caring about yourself and how you look is fine, but when it comes down to it, your education and a diploma will get you farther than most beauty products will in life. I'm a beauty-buff myself and I want to make it known that girls are so much more than looks! Your personality and your brains get you further, ladies ;)

Love you, keep reading

The Problem With Some Books

Hey guys! Jane here. Today I'm going to talk about one of books/writers' biggest problems: stereotypes. We've all read about the typical characters. Shy, outgoing, etc. There's nothing wrong with character's having these traits, but maybe writers could try to spice up their personality to make it a little bit more original. Here are some ways they could do this:

  1. Having interesting hobbies. I don't think I've read enough about different, new, exciting things that a character does. Maybe this is why character stereotypes are so commonly found in books- because people are so afraid of thinking out of the box.
  2.  More self-empowering books for girls. I've read too many books that has a strong, leading female protagonist that turns to mush when she has a crush or a love interest. I would still want her to keep that self-confidence, even though her turning to mush could be a way of the author showing her affection for the love interest.
  3. Take inspiration from the real world. Everyone is a little different, and maybe adding quirks from a few real-life people will help create a character we love. We fall in love with certain characters because we can either relate to them, or we're so different that we imagine our chemistry with that person (if they were living) to be good.
So this has basically been a rant to authors, but if you are a writer and you found some helpful tips, let me know! :)

Review: Recipes and Road Stories

Title: Recipes and Road Stories // by Hannah and Caroline Melby

Rating: 🎸🎸🎸.5/🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 (3.5/5)

Summary (Courtesy of Goodreads)-A Remarkable Coming of Age Story About Two Young Girls Growing Into Womanhood on the Bluegrass Circuit.
By the time Hannah was in the 11th grade and Caroline was in the 7th grade, the Melby sisters were touring the country in bluegrass bands, with Hannah on fiddle and Caroline on mandolin. Today the sisters are the front persons of a very popular Nashville-based country music touring band named HanaLena.

What I liked: I really liked how personal this book felt. You can relate to the stories and it has a really warm, full-of-heart, Southern feel to it. I also like how it's a memoir and it's not 600 pages long. I really like the way it was composed, in a way that the authors took you on a sort of journey as you read. The person who's reading this book feels like they're a part of the girl's lives.
What I didn't like so much: I can honestly say that I don't have a bad thing so say about the book--maybe because it's a memoir, but I really enjoyed reading this! I'm normally a very critical eye when it comes to books but I think this book was so full of heart that I can't say anything bad about it.
So that's all, folks! I hope you enjoyed this review. You should definitely buy this book! A big thanks to Kelsey who gave me the opportunity to review the book.
